All students enrolled in the Athletic Training Major at Ohio State are required to participate in the blanket liability insurance policy maintained through the Athletic Training Division (offered "at cost" to each student without any markup). The cost of this policy for 2005 - 2006 is $13 per student and must be paid no later than the 5th week of the Autumn quarter. You can pay the fee to either Dr. Merrick or Dr. Harris and checks should be made out to "SAMP". The policy provides $1 million per incident / $3 million lifetime coverage for all assigned clinical activities that are part of your educational program. The policy does not provide coverage for any elective "extra events" where you act as a first-aid provider and that are not assigned parts of your clinical education (e.g. high school tournaments). If you plan to volunteer for such events, you must obtain a personal liability policy in addition to the Division's blanket policy.
