Question: How do I apply to the DPT program at the Ohio State University?
Answer: Beginning this 2008-2009 application period, OSU's DPT program will be accepting applications through a centralized application service, PTCAS. Applicants interested in applying for the upcoming class beginning in June, 2009 may begin the application process on or after August 1st, 2008. The deadline is November 3, 2008. There is only one application period every year.

Questions: When do I complete the OSU's supplemental application?
Answer: Once the Physical Therapy program receives your completed application from PTCAS you will receive an electronic invitation to complete the supplemental application.
Question: What undergraduate degree do I need to enter the the DPT program?
Answer: There is no "right undergraduate major". Many students select health sciences, exercise science or some other health related field. A health related major seems to best prepare students for the program. As long as the student does well and completes the prerequisite courses, then the major of their choice is best.
Question: Is there a time limit on being out of school with a degree before returning?
Answer: There is no specific time limit. All applicants will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Question: Do Advanced Placement (AP) courses taken in high school count toward course requirements?
Answer: Yes. We currently accept AP courses for prerequire requirements if your undergraduate institution accepted those same credits toward your bachelor's degree.
Question: How do you determine if a particular course meets your prerequisites?

Question: Is the Graduate Record Exam required?
Answer: Yes. All applicants must have taken the GRE within the past five (5) years. Please request that scores are sent to The Ohio State University, program code 1592.
Question: If there are multiple GRE scores, which scores are accepted?
Answer: The program will accept the best total day score, not the best individual section scores.
Question: How many students are accepted per class?
Answer: The program accepts 40 students per year.
Question: When do classes start?
Answer: Classes begin summer quarter. The quarter beings on Monday of the third week of June.
Question: How long is the program?
Answer: The program is 3 years in length. The degree requires 13 quarters with 156 hours of course work in classroom and 40 weeks of clinical work.
Question: Does the OSU program offer areas of specialty?
Answer: No. The OSU DPT program is a general degree which covers all basic aspects of Physical Therapy. Although a specialty is not offered, there are multiple opportunities for emphasis in an area through your choice of electives, clinical affiliations and scholarly projects.
Question: Does the program offer a part-time curriculum or evening courses? Answer: No. The DPT curriculum is a three (3) year full-time commitment. We do not offer a part-time or evening option. Classes take place generally between the hours of 8am-5pm.
Question: How much does the DPT program cost?
Answer: For the 2007-2008 academic year, full time tuition is $3,618 for Ohio residents and $8,336 for students not residents of Ohio. Students are required to have health insurance. Students can purchase student health insurance through the University. First year expenses also include textbooks, materials and other fees which total about $1,400. Students are responsible for all expenses associated with travel and living arrangements during clinical affiliations.

Question: What is the profile of a successful applicant?
Answer: On average, applicants who are accepted to our DPT program have an overall GPA of 3.6 or higher; prerequisite GPA of 3.75 or higher and the following GRE scores: Verbal-550; Quantitative-650; Analytical Writing-4.5.
Question: Does the DPT program accept transfer students?
Answer: The program does not accept transfer students from other PT programs.
Question: How do well do OSU DPT students perform on the National Exam?
Answer: OSU PT graduates routinely receive among the highest scores on the national boards.
