Scholarship:

My dissertation examined the influence of the length of the pectoralis minor on scapular kinematics in an effort to identify a mechanism of subacromial impingement. I will continue to explore mechanisms and management of shoulder impingement including the effects of soft tissue extensibility and exposure to overhead use on scapular kinematics. I am also interested in determining if scapula starting position or upper quarter posture is related to shoulder kinematics or shoulder impingement. I use an electromagnetic motion capture system in my research which produces instant three-dimensional segment orientation output. I have applied for several grants to explore these issues.

Fun Facts:

I am married to a physical therapist, Alex, who is earning her PhD in the Health and Rehabilitation Sciences degree program here at OSU. We have four children, Haakon, Berit, Toni and little Tate, and a golden retriever named Liberty. We stay busy trying to keep up with them and all their events. I enjoy all sports or games, especially baseball and golf, and love to canoe and camp. I also love to cook and bake, especially bread. I’m a runner and try to run a marathon each year.
