Welcome to the Radiologic Sciences and Therapy Program at The Ohio State University

Medical Imaging is the science of using radiation (x-ray, magnetism, and ultrasound) to produce images of the tissues, organs, bones, and vessels of the body. These images may be recorded on film or displayed on a computer monitor. Beyond imaging, therapeutic interventions for disease are possible; the principle modality used in the treatment of cancer is Radiation Therapy. Although cancer treatment is multidisciplinary, the use of high energy radiation is crucial in providing the optimum treatment plan for each patient. The appropriate treatment of a patient always depends on accurate and precise medical images. These rewarding careers combine patient skills with the knowledge and use of sophisticated medical technology.

Ohio State’s Radiologic Sciences and Therapy program offers a unique opportunity for students to earn a Bachelor of Science degree and prepare for leadership roles in the radiologic sciences profession, teaching or research.

The program prepares students to function in different venues by teaching and providing clinical rotations in a variety of settings, including rural hospitals and private clinics, as well as in larger medical centers. The added advantage of being able to specialize in one of three concentration areas, Radiography, Radiation Therapy, or Diagnostic Medical Sonography, gives our graduates a competitive edge in the healthcare market.
