Direct Admission for Freshmen

Direct RT Admission
Direct RT admission for new first quarter freshmen became a reality in 2002!  For the first time, Respiratory Therapy directly admitted 2 new first quarter freshmen students.  This is a definite 4-year plan!
Advantages of Direct Admission
Direct admission as a freshman secures your major program and connects you with our division during your first quarter, and a member of our faculty will become your academic co-advisor with a freshman advisor.
Direct Admission Criteria
For high school seniors who have been admitted to the School of Allied Medical Professions as freshmen, academic achievement is determined by high school curriculum, class rank and standardized test scores.

Direct admission from high school to the RT program is reserved for students graduating in the top 25% of their class, who completed 2 HS units of math and 3 of science, who have meritorious test scores: composite ACT, math, and science 22; SAT 1070 and SAT math 550.

How it works
High school seniors who are applying to OSU and who are interested in majoring in Respiratory Therapy should use the general freshman application and indicate Respiratory Therapy (code 911) as a major interest. After admission to OSU, the application will be forwarded to the Respiratory Therapy Division for consideration of direct RT admission.  Qualified OSU applicants will be invited to complete supplemental application materials and to schedule an interview. Students interested in Respiratory Therapy who are not admitted as first quarter freshmen will apply for admission during their freshmen year and will be considered for admission as sophomores.
