RT CLASS OF 2005 GRADUATES!

At the SAMP Precommencement ceremony on June 11, the RT Class of 2005 was recognized for many significant accomplishments. All 14 earned bachelor of science degrees, and all are certified in basic and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and as CPR instructors. Thirteen are Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) and 4 are Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT). Three graduated cum laude and 3 earned the SAMP Award of Merit. Four were inducted into Lambda-Beta, the national honor society for respiratory care.

 

Marjorie Ardito was the 17th RT student to complete the SAMP Honors program and graduated with distinction. She also was the divisions 1st ever NCAA Academic All-American.  Congratulations Class of 2005.  See Alumni page for their destinations.

Ardito Wins 1st Place at Denman

Nine RT Seniors Present Posters

     For her research project "Smoking Cessation Protocols in Ohio Hospitals," Marjorie Ardito won 1st place in the Health Science - Clinical division at the 10th annual Denman Undergraduate Research Forum on May 18.  Marjorie is an NCAA Academic All-American and Allied Medicine Honors student; her project advisors are Dr. Sarah Varekojis and Georgianna Sergakis.

     A total of nine seniors presented five senior research projects at Denman. Jeff Hunter and Rory Mullin presented "Effects of Syringe Material, Sample Storage and Temperature on Blood Gases and Oxygen Saturation in Arterial Blood Samples." Letitia Wiltshire and Sharma Hodge presented "Health Literacy and Prenatal Education: A Review of Nursing and Respiratory Therapy Practices." Melissa Bishop and Matthew Kovar presented "Management Strategies Focusing on Staff Retention in Ohio's Respiratory Therapy Departments," and Anne Carvi, and Holly Schmidt presented "The Role of the Respiratory Therapist in Providing Smoking Cessation."
