2007 - 08 Begins with
51 Students!
There are 18 seniors, 20 juniors and 15 sophomores enrolled in Respiratory Therapy!
 
Curtis & Wilds Teach Courses
The Respiratory Therapy Division enjoyed 2 temporary instructors during Autumn quarter.  On special assignment from the clinical RT Department at OSUMC, Matthew Curtis, BS, RRT and Rachel Wilds, BS, RRT taught junior level courses in basic therapeutics and clinical care, and they have been recommended to be new OSU clinical instructors.  With Matt from Gannon University and Rachel from Youngstown State University, both brought new perspectives and enthusiasm and prepared students well for winter clinicals.  Thank you, Matt and Rachel!
 
Tim Myers (‘89) New AARC President
OSU RT Class of 1989 has produced a president of the American Association for Respiratory Care. Timothy R. Myers BS, RRT-NPS who is the Director, Asthma & Diagnostic Centers & Pediatric Respiratory Care at University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine was elected AARC president in 2007. Tim will serve a 5-year term (2008 President Elect, 2009-10 President and 2011-12 as Past President). Congratulations Tim!

ORCB Report Examines
Ohio RT Schools 
According to a recent report of 2003-05 by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board, RT @ OSU had the highest graduation rate (92%), lowest attrition rate (8%), and produced the most RRTs (75%) in Ohio. And with 75% RRTs at graduation, our Class of 2007 was also the largest graduating class in Ohio. Go Bucks! See full report at ORCB-Ed.

 

CoARC Site Visit Scheduled
The Respiratory Therapy Division is undergoing a continuing accreditation review by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.  The self study was submitted in September 2007, and an on site evaluation is scheduled for February 14-15, 2008 when the site visitors will review documents and interview administrators, alumni, faculty, and students.  Initially accredited in 1975, the division has been accredited by Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation, the Respiratory Care Accreditation Board, and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. The most recent site visit was in 1996.
