Admission Requirements

  • The Master of Science program is open to applicants who have a baccalaureate degree in a health professions from an accredited institution, as well as certification or registration in one of the health professions.  
  • Applicants with a non health background may be considered if clear academic and professional goals have been established prior to applying to the program. 
  • Applicants to the advanced professional practice tracks in clinical nutrition, occupational therapy or physical therapy related areas must hold an undergraduate degree, as well as certification, registration, or licensure in that profession.

Additional Requirements

Three letters of recommendation are required. Recommendations should come from individualswho can attest to the applicant's strength as a scholar and as a clinician.  

An undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 

The general Graduate Record Examination scores must meet the University Graduate School 's standards. All students are required to take the GRE.

A statement of intent is required and should include a summary of the applicant's relevant educational and professional experiences as well as an indication of future goals. It is reviewed for quality of writing and for appropriate match between the applicant's stated career goals and the purpose and philosophy of the program.

Master's Degree Requirements

  • In addition to general Graduate School requirements, a minimum of 45 hours are required for the program of study. 
  • Completion of courses in the core areas are required of all students. 
  • With adviser assistance, students will select remaining coursework to meet their specific educational and professional objectives. 
  • Students must complete a thesis or research project, as well as an oral examination. 
  • Graduating students must maintain a final GPA at or above a 3.0. 
  • All requirements for the degree must be completed within five year.
