APPLICATION PROCESS The HIMS division invites applications for college students or graduates who are following the pre-professional curriculum outlined within the Suggested Course Schedule and from qualified high school seniors who have been admitted to the School of Allied Medical Professions as a freshman.
The program officially begins at the junior level; however, there is early admission at the sophomore level for students who have a 3.5 grade point or above and have completed the prerequisites and for entering freshman based on high school class rank, standardized test scores, and personal interview.
Applicants are accepted for Autumn Quarter admission only. He or she must meet the following minimum requirements and submit requested materials to be considered for admission:
1. Application forms are available online through the OSU Professional Admissions Office website after September 15 each year. Please complete the application and submit it with all required supplemental documents.
High school seniors should use the general OSU Freshman Application and indicate HIMS as a major interest.
The application deadline is March 31, 2008 for the class beginning Autumn Quarter 2008.
Incomplete applications will not be considered, and those received past the priority deadline will be considered on a space-available basis.
2. A minimum of 2.20 cumulative GPA is required in all coursework taken at all accredited institutions. All post-secondary coursework is considered in admission. Although a 2.2 GPA is the minimum, the average GPA is typically higher than a 3.0 - 3. Completion of prerequisite courses by the end of Summer quarter prior to enrollment in the professional program.
4. Informational interview with a HIMS professional of your choice. A list of opportunities at the Ohio State Universit Medical Center (OSUMC) can be found at the SAMP website. - 5. A personal interview may be requested by the division for competitive applicants. Knowledge of the profession and personal career goals will be evaluated at this time.

Transfer students need to assure that up-to-date, official transcripts with the latest grade information are received by the OSU Professional Admissions Office. Conversion of semester credits to quarter credits can be calculated by multiplying semester hours times 1.5.
