Biographical Information
Maryanna Klatt, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor, teaching in the School of Allied Medical Professions, The College of Education and Human Ecology, and the College of Medicine at The Ohio State University. Her focus is the exploration of evidence-based Integrative Medicine. She directs the minor Integrative Approaches to Health and Wellness housed in The School of Allied Medical Professions, open to students across disciplines, exploring the art and science of medicine. Dr. Klatt has been trained in Mindfulness Meditation, an approach that comes out of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, in addition to being a certified Integrative Yoga Therapy instructor. Her clinical practice includes classes on Yoga and the Cancer Continuum. She combines yoga and mindfulness meditation in her practice, teaching, and research. Her current NIH funded research is on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the work place for OSU Faculty and Staff, and has designed a yoga program for elementary inner city schools to augment learning readiness and focus. Dr. Klatt believes that there is an unexplored mine of low cost, high yield movement and meditation practices that have broad pragmatic value.
