If you are a pre-med, pre-vet, pre-dent, pre-pharm, pre-opt or pre-graduate school student and are looking for a 4 year degree to prepare you for entry into graduate school or a professional program, we have a great curriculum specifically designed to meet your career goals and provide you with a solid theoretical foundation for further study in the clinical sciences. You will learn the pathophysiology of diseases in five major areas of study: Chemistry, Immunology, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, and Hematology. You will learn detailed information about laboratory analysis, laboratory data and disease correlations.
This curriculum (non-certification curriculum) is more flexible and can be tailored to meet your career goals by accomodating additional coursework that may be necessary for your post-baccalaureate program of choice. Graduates from this program are not eligible to sit for the national certifying examinations for Medical Technologists/Clinical Laboratory Scientists.
Below is an example course schedule for pre-med majors that allows you to get a BS degree in Allied Medical Professions-Medical Technology and also complete the pre-requisite coursework necessary for admission into medical school in a period of four years. It cannot be guaranteed that these courses will not have time conflicts. There are many other options for students so if you have any questions about this curriculum please feel free to contact a pre-major advisor at 292-1706 or your assigned medical technology advisor at 292-7303.

* Math 151 suggested for Medical School (many students take 152 and 153 as well) ^ MT 400 - Phlebotomy is recommended for pre-med students. ** The suggested schedule allows flexibility for the student to take additional courses that are required or helpful to complete prior to applying to med school. Research hours can also be taken.
