The American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) is now requiring that all technologists certified through ASCP (as of Jan 1, 2004) complete certification maintenance. Certification maintenance requires that all those certified complete a total of 36 hours (points) of continuing education in a 3 year period.
Points must be received as follows: 1 point in safety; 2 points in each of the following areas, BB, Heme, Chem, Immuno, Micro; Remaining points in area of specialty, management, education or other related lab area of interest.
