Scholarly Activity:

My scholarship focuses on the recovery of function following neurologic injury, methods of measuring functional recovery, and the changes in the nervous system associated with that recovery. Currently, I participated in a national clinical trial (EXCITE) to evaluate the effectiveness of constraint –induced therapy for the recovery of arm function following stroke and a second multi-centered trial looking at the mapping of changes in the motor cortex associated with functional recovery of arm function after stroke, using functional magnetic resonance imaging and transcranial magnetic stimulation. We have also developed a new test of sensory function, which is undergoing testing and for which we have applied for a patent.

Fun Facts:

I am the proud mother of two almost adult sons, John and Mark, and was recently married to Glenn (a geologist). I am also the owner of two large dogs, Cosmo (a lab/retriever/Chow mix) and Lucy (mostly a Harlequin Great Dane). I’m a Buckeye fan through and through, having earned 2 of my degrees here, and even have a scarlet and gray office. I love all sports, especially Buckeye sports, and play soccer two to three nights/week (yes play), which is how I met my husband, who is a goalie.
