The Ohio Wheelchair Games takes place every spring and include events such as track & field, slalom, swimming, weightlifting, archery, table tennis, bowling, and target shooting.

The purpose of the Games is to provide quality competition for athletes of varying levels of ability. The Ohio Wheelchair Games serves as a qualifying meet for other regional, national or international competitions. As 2004 was an Olympic year, competitors at the Games qualified for the Paralympics.

Physical Therapy students attend the Wheelchair Games committee meetings, meet participating athletes at their sports club practices, serve as event coordinators and learn how to rate the level of disability for competition level classification. Participants also coordinate recruitment of volunteers from the PT division to work at the Games, train as unofficial judges and supervise the field events.

Other groups involved in the Ohio Whellchair Games include members of the Ohio Staters and the Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) and students in the Adapted Recreation Department.
