Welcome to the Division of Radiologic Sciences and Therapy!
The field of medical imaging has never been more promising for medicine and the future of healthcare. Today's technology is enabling imaging professionals to be involved in providing outcomes that improve patients' lives through the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease.
The field has never been more promising for careers in healthcare and medicine, as well. A national shortage of medical imaging technologists currently exists due to an aging population, expanded scope of practice, and medical advances. The Department of Labor Statistics views the profession as changing "faster than average" and forecasts that 25% more workers will be needed than we currently have for 1998-2008. These realities all give technologists more challenging opportunities to provide care in many different areas of the country, including urban, rural, and suburban settings.
Ohio State's Radiologic Sciences and Therapy Program is designed to help fill that need. We offer a bachelor's degree that is unlike other training options as it comprises a freshman year of general campus courses and the specializations that make our graduates more marketable in the medical imaging professions.
We invite you to peruse these pages to learn more about the program and how you can embark on a challenging and rewarding career in the growing health care field of radiologic sciences and therapy.
