Radiographers are experts in the performance of examinations requiring the use of x-rays and skilled in the use of highly complex machinery. Their responsibility is to produce a quality X-ray image (radiographs) of the internal parts of the body for diagnostic interpretation by a physician (radiologist).

The professional program in Radiography is thirteen (13) quarters in length, including the summer between the first and second year, with the final seven (7) quarters being completed in sequence as shown. There is no provision for part-time or evening-only enrollment.

During the first two professional years, students complete prerequisite courses and courses required under the General Education Curriculum (GEC). In the third and fourth professional years, students learn how to perform radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures on patients. As the program progresses, students work with more difficult cases in the emergency room, surgery, and with patients too ill to come to the radiology department. Also, during the final year, students choose to specialize in a clinical or non-clinical practicum.

A minimum total of 182 quarter hours is required for graduation, including the GEC Approved List of Courses and the third- and fourth-year requirements outlined under the Radiography Curriculum below. Satisfactory completion leads to the Bachelor of Science in Allied Medical Professions degree.

Graduates are eligible to apply to sit for the national examination in radiography from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and obtain a State of Ohio Radiography License.

Ohio State's Radiologic Sciences and Therapy program is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Ohio Department of Health.
