AMP Student Registration Fee Awards
The purpose of the OSU Agroecosystem Management Program (AMP) is to ensure that future farming and food systems improve quality of life for all people by being socially and economically viable, just and equitable, biodiverse, sustainable, and resilient. We seek to improve agroecosystems and their impact on society, the economy, and the environment. To achieve this goal, AMP programs seek to deepen connections between people, enhance our understanding of agroecosystems, and expand the use of agroecological approaches to farming.
AMP has established a new Student Registration Fee Award program that is designed to empower and enable students to attend conferences, meetings, and hands-on workshops to increase their understanding and applied skills to increase the use of agroecological approaches in food and farming systems.
Qualifying events should have some connection to the mission of the Agroecosystem Management Program and include:
- Recurring farming and food system conferences in Ohio (such as the Ohio Ecological Food and Farming Association annual conference, the Ohio State Organic Grain Growers conference, the Ohio Conservation Tillage and Technology Conference, Ohio Grazing Conference, the Ohio Forage and Grasslands Council annual conference, Southern Ohio Forest Farming Conference, Agraria Pathways to Regeneration Conference, Ohio Black Farming Conference, etc.).
- Special conferences and meeting events in Ohio (e.g., the 2024 Urban Food System Symposium)
- Technical training workshops in Ohio (such as the OSU Overholt Drainage School, OSU Pastures for Profit school, SilvoPro Silvopasture training, United Plant Savers Mushroom Cultivation Workshop, Rid-All Urban Agricultural On-Farm Intensive training, etc.)
- Registration for applied farming and food systems conferences outside of Ohio (if similar opportunities don’t exist in-state)
OSU and CSU undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply for one award per calendar year (up to $250) to defray the cost of registration at events in Ohio that advance the mission of AMP. Grants cover the cost of student registration at the event (but do not cover other travel expenses).
Applications will be received on an ongoing basis. Be sure to initiate an application with plenty of time to get it reviewed and approved prior to registration deadlines. Normally our staff will handle the registration fee payment directly on the student’s behalf. Students who receive a registration fee award will be asked to submit to AMP a brief summary of how they benefited after the event.
