My research and service focuses on public participation and participatory governance in local agrifood policy processes, emphasizing social equity, which aligns with AMP's goal of creating socially and economically viable, just, and equitable farming systems. By using Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) to engage with local governments and food policy councils, I aim to enhance connections between people and deepen the understanding of agroecosystems. Additionally, my service efforts, including my roles in the Franklin County Local Food Council and the Ohio Food Policy Network, demonstrate my commitment to improving the food system and achieving better health, community well-being, and equitable outcomes. By integrating practical, place-based issues and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, I work to advance academic knowledge while providing real-world implications that contribute to sustainable and resilient farming systems.
